Description:

"Sea Ice in the Polar Regions" is a multimedia presentation aimed at introducing the viewer to the role of sea ice in the climate system and the use of satellite data to monitor its distribution in both the Arctic and Antarctic. The total presentation takes about 35 minutes. It was written by Claire L. Parkinson, NASA/Goddard, as part of the Earth Observing System (EOS) Program.

The "Arctic Observatory" is a proof-of-concept multimedia science tool designed to enable students (grades 9-16) to investigate Arctic processes. Students can analyze the relationships between surface termperatures, ice concentration, near surface winds, ice velocity, and cloud cover over a six-year period in order to explore the Arctic system.

This CD-ROM will work on either a Macintosh (System 7.1 or later) or a PC (Windows 3.1 or 95).
