Description:This CD-ROM is an earth-science database covering a wide range of geologic phenomena in the contiguous United States and was produced by the Joint Education Initiative (JEI), University of Maryland and the American Geological Institute.A wide range of data is included on the CD-ROM. This includes topographic, gravity, magnetics, seismic, thermal and crustal stress data; Landsat and AVHRR satellite imagery; digitized map data (political boundaries, geologic regions, fault lines, coastlines, rivers, etc.); and place names. The data can be accessed through a menu-driver user interface and many of the datasets can be combined together. This CD-ROM was designed to work on a PC running DOS, MS-Windows, or OS/2 preferrably on a machine with 8MB RAM, 486DX or higher processor, and Math coprocessor. About 2MB of free disk space on a hard disk is also required. |
