Source:

U.S. Geological Survey

Description:

This CD-ROM contains the HCDN data set which consists of streamflow data measured at 1,659 sites throughout the United States and its territories. Daily mean, monthly mean, and annual mean, minumum, and maximum values of discharge are provided for each water year. Records cumulatively span the period 1874 through 1988, inclusive, and represent a total of 73, 231 water years of information.

Information necessary for the identifcation of each station in the HCDN, any qualifying comments about the available record for the site, and descriptive basin characteristics are also provided on the CD-ROM.

All of the data is present in ASCII files allowing access to the data on any system capable of reading the CD-ROM. The discharge data is also present in binary form (IEEE floating-point numbers representation which HP workstations and Macintosh computers can use).

There are several software programs on the CD-ROM which will run only on a DOS-based computer or emulator.
