Description:
The goals of the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE) are:
- to understand the radiation budget between the Sun, Earth,
atmosphere and space which drives the weather and climate system
- to establish an accurate, long-term baseline data set for studying
climate system changes.
The ERBE scanner instrument package (flown simultaneously on
multiple satellites) contains three instruments to measure
shortwave, longwave, and total waveband radiation.
Each detector scans the Earth from horizon to horizon,
usually perpendicular to the satellite ground track.
This CD-ROM contains data and color images from scanning radiometers
on the three ERBE satellites (ERBS, NOAA-9, NOAA-10) for for
combined satellite cases.
Monthly average values are included for the time periods during which
the scanner were operational.
