Description:
The Digital Chart of the World (DCW) is a digitized
1:1,000,000-scale vector digital basemap of the world
originally produced by ESRI for the U.S. Defense
Mapping Agency.
The principal source materials were DMA Operational
Navigation Charts and Jet Navigation Charts for
Antarctica.
This version of DCW is only for the ARC/INFO geographic
information system. It is licensed for academic
or research purposes only - a public domain version
in a different format (Vector Product Format) is
available for purchase from the U.S. Geological Survey.
This map database is available on 4 CDROMs.
The database is divided into 2,094 separate tiles
with each tile covering an area 5 degrees by
5 degrees. The following thematic data layers
(with their abbreviations) are available:
