Description:

The Midwestern Agricultural Climate Atlas contains statistics for a large number of locations in the Midwest with long-term daily climate records. The atlas covers a nine state region including the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The daily data are not included in the atlas, only the statistics (mean, extremes, probabilities of occurrence for various time durations from one week to one year) of these data. The primary climatic elements included are air termperature, precipitation, and snowfall. From these, primary elements, a number of other variables are derived, including growing degree days, and growing season length.

Data from the atlas are presented in report, graph or map formats. Report products give a tablular summary of single station statistics for several different time periods. Graph products show the temporal distribution of a single element for a single station. The map products show the spatial pattern of a single element over a single state or over the entire region for a given time period.

This atlas requires the following computer configuration: a PC running DOS 3.3 or later; a color monitor with EGA/VGA graphics; 640KB memory; hard-disk drive with at least 4MB of free space.
