Global Change Symposium

April 7-8, 1994

Global Change II: A Midwest Perspective

On April 7-8, 1994 nationally renowned experts on flooding, global change, and other environmental issues met at the University of Iowa to attend the Symposium on Global Change II: A Midwest Perspective.

This symposium was a follow-up to one held in 1989, Preparing for Climate Change: A Midwest Perspective, which attracted over 200 attendees to the University of Iowa campus to hear about global change issues and their impact on the Midwest. This previous conference came on the heels of a major Midwest drought.

The 1994 symposium included new information on The Great Flood of 1993, as well as current data on greenhouse gas emissions, stratospheric ozone depletion, biodiversity, and sustainable development, and the ways in which these issues affect the Midwest.
