• Not a single month between March 1992 and August 1993 averaged above normal temperatures, a string of 16 consecutive months.
• The low temperatures of 1992 greatly reduced evaporation rates which left Iowa soils far more moist than is typical.
• The cloudy, wet weather prevented temperatures from reaching 80 degrees F anywhere in Iowa until May 5, 1993 (this was the latest "first" date of 80F weather in Iowa in 126 years).
