Weather

The map below shows the weather at the surface. Many factors determine our weather. The upper right hand figure shows the surface pressure. When the pressure falls with time, clouds and precipitation may be on its way. When pressure rises, and high pressure settles in, we often have nice weather. Temperature (top left figure) helps us locate pockets of cold and warm air. The region between these air masses denote the "fronts". Can you locate the cold front on this day? Wind direction and wind speed are shown on the bottom panels. In meteorology we say the winds are Northerly and mean that the winds are coming FROM the north. What is the speed and direction of the winds over Iowa on this day?
