CGRER Computer Laboratory CGRER Computer LaboratoryAmong the resources of the Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research is its computer laboratory for environmental and spatial data analysis. Here CGRER members have access to numerous Unix workstations and sophisticated software packages with which to pursue their research. A variety of digital environmental databases along with an extensive library of documentation and related references are also available.
An exciting grant was received in 1997, a NASA award from the Centers of Excellence in Applications of Remote Sensing to Regional and Global Integrated Environmental Assessments Program, to establish a Laboratory for the Immersive Visualization of the Environment. This new laboratory utilizes virtual reality and high-speed network technology.
The Center is grateful to Hewlett-Packard for its donation of computer equipment and to the University of Iowa for additional funding.
