Lab User's Responsibilities
Your CGRER computer account is only to be used for CGRER-related
research. The workstations should not be used for doing homework. Check with
the CGRER Data Systems Coordinator is you think your coursework qualifies as
CGRER research.
Do not give out your computer account or provide the laboratory access
security codes to other individuals unless specifically authorized to do so.
The computer account is for your exclusive use only. Please inform the CGRER
Data Systems Coordinator if you will be accessing your CGRER computer account
from an out-of-town address.
Use the CGRER computer resources prudently and be considerate of the needs of
other users. Use the batch command whenever possible to allow others to use the
machine while your program runs. Log out if you are away
from the computer terminal for more than 15-20 minutes. Don't use more than one
X-terminal or workstation at a time. Use of these computer facilities
during non-peak usage times such as
evenings and weekends is encouraged.
Please promptly report any computer hardware or software problems that you may
encounter. Inform the CGRER Data Systems Coordinator by e-mail if possible or
leave a written note. If you encounter a serious problem at night or on the
weekend you can call one of the emergency phone numbers posted on the phone by
the laboratory entrance.
Do not remove any of the books, manuals, or other publications from the CGRER
computer laboratory without first obtaining permission to do so.
