CGRER: Computer LaboratoryComputer Account InformationThe use of the CGRER computer laboratory is available to all CGRER members, their students, and visiting scientists for the purposes of pursuing environmental research projects specifically related to the goals and purpose of the Center. Accounts for projects which do not appear to relate to these goals will not be issued unless approved by the CGRER executive committee. At the moment there is no charge for using the CGRER workstations but they are only to be used for CGRER-related research purposes. Inappropriate uses of the workstations may result in termination of the account. An account entitles the user access to any of the CGRER workstations and a limited amount of disk space for their own private use. Other computer resources, such as temporary disk space, tape drives, use of printers, etc. are to be shared among all users. Some basic supplies for the computer laboratory, such paper for the printers, are provided by CGRER. However, it is expected that users purchase additional supplies (such as computer tapes, special paper for the printers) that they may need. Before applying for an account, read the CGRER Computer Account Guidelines. You may also want to read the University of Iowa Policy on Acceptable use of Information Technology Resources. Print and complete an application and submit to either Jeremie Moen (408 IATL) or Jane Frank (424 IATL).
