Welcome to CGRER's forecast page for the VOCALS Campaign

VAMOS Ocean Cloud Land Study (VOCALS)
field campaign is taking place from October 15 to November 15, 2008.

The Center for Global & Regional Environmental Research
at the University of Iowa in collaboration with Universidad Andres Bello is providing daily chemical weather forecasts in support of this experiment.

This is a collaboration with Tami Bond ( University of Illinois),
Marcelo Mena (Universidad Andres Bello,Chile and Molina Fellow at MIT) and
Youhua Tang (NOAA/NWS/NCEP/EMC).

The University of Iowa's STEM regional chemical transport modeling simulations are performed at the 12km resolution. Anthropogenic area emissions are taken from a merged gaseous EDGARFT1000 inventory with Tami Bond's BC and OC inventory, gridded through Landscan 2006 population distribution, resampled to 12km resolution. Large point source emissions were compiled by Laura Gallardo from Universidad de Chile for VOCALS
The Weather Research & Forecasting model (WRF) provides meteorological fields to drive these calculations. A very special thanks for Alessio D'allura for support in developing this forecasting framework.
